| Observation Summary | Observed seal as photographed off [[Totem … Observed seal as photographed off [[Totem Park]] for some time. If I remember correctly, it occasionally made a sound. At the time I thought it was a odd for a [[Eumetopias jubatus|Steller's Sea Lion (''Eumetopias jubatus'')]] to behave this way. Later I heard that this behavior (head out of the water with nose pointed up for some time, looking like a dead head log) is typical for [[Mirounga angustirostris|Northern Elephant Seal (''Mirounga angustirostris'')]].hant Seal (''Mirounga angustirostris'')]]. + |
