TaxonRemarks In 1951 Fenner Chace separated this species from ''Hippolyte californiensis''. Prior to (and even some after!) this description listed ''H. californiensis'' as ranging from Southern California to the Gulf of Alaska. Currently, all records north of Humboldt Bay, California are ''Hippolyte clarki'', those south are ''H. californiensis''.
