Observation Summary
|
Many sawfly larvae feeding gregariously on … Many sawfly larvae feeding gregariously on the leaves of a willow. It appeared they had stripped one branch and then moved together to another one. When disturbed, they lifted their back ends up - presumably a defensive posture, though it's unclear to me how that might help. There were eggs laid on a couple of different leaves (including one leaf where you could see the remains of eggs that had hatched out - my guess is these were the larvae that came from those). We collected 4 to try and raise - hopefully we can see the adults if we don't get an id from the larvae.
