Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Throughout.
Habitat: On soil, rocks, and tree bases in forests and canyons. Usually in shade, sometimes in sunny sites; from sea level to the subalpine.
Comments: Occasionally with sporophytes, often with gemmae. Although reaching its northernmost known limit in North America in southeastern Alaska the species is common throughout in the district.
