Habitat: On wet peat of streamlets in bogs, along stream bank in the alder successional zone, usually where it is rather wet and basic.

The Glacier Bay Material grew among Equisetum in moist depressions in raw, calcareous tills in sunny, very early successional stages. It was also found on the peaty soil of an open marsh.
Comments: Frequently with sporophytes.
