Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Widespread, but generally restricted to the drier regions.
Habitat: In semi-pure colonies to scattered strands among other bryophytes on boulders, talus, cliffs, maritime outcrops, rocky stream banks, rarely on organic materials and decaying wood, raised beaches and occasionally on forest floors. In dry sunny sites to shaded, mesic environments.
Comments: Occasionally with sporophytes.
