Dark-eyed Junco Winter Movements
From Natural History of Southeast Alaska
Basic Idea: Band juncos at one or more popular feeders and observe subsequent distribution of banded birds.
Questions to be answered:
- Do junco flocks tend to stick together or mix throughout the winter?
- How far do the juncos range during winter?
- Where do our wintering juncos go in summer?
- Do juncos have a strong fidelity to wintering grounds?
