Ribbed trophon:
Ribbed trophon (Boreotrophon multicostatus): Locally very common, this beautiful seashell is of the Murex family, which will be very familiar to tropical beachcombers. The ribs on Boreotrophon stuarti and the invasive Ceratostoma inornatum do not fold over as they do in this species. Furthermore, this species is generally much smaller. B. multicostatus is distinct from the Eurasian species B. clathratus in that it has more irregular and fewer varices.
