Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Common and widespread.
Habitat: On calcareous soil and rocks, usually where it is occasionally wet or damp, in deep shade or bright sunlight, from sea level to the summits of mountains. Also on the trunks of trees, especially Chamaecyparis in peatlands.
Comments: Rarely with sporophytes (fertile in occasional southeastern Alaska populations).
