Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Common throughout.
Habitat: Common in wet, shaded sites, margins of peatlands, transitional forests, swampy areas, margins of ponds and pools, and on wet cliffs (especially at the crest). Occasionally mixed with other Sphagna, but frequently in pure colonies. From sea level to the subalpine and lower alpine.
Comments: Often with sporophytes.
