Habitat: Tending to be a calcicole, but not strictly so. Widespread and often abundant on shaded cliffs and canyon walls, infrequently on trees, rarely in peatlands. In mesic to humid and damp habitats. Sea level to the subalpine.
Comments: Sporophytes not seen.
