Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Widespread. Peviously reported only from Egg Harbor (Persson, 1952a).
Habitat: On non-acidic to strongly basic substrates, as isolated strands or as mats on rocks, at cliff bases, on mineral soils among other bryophytes, in tundra; from sea level ot the subalpine.
Comments: Sporophytes and gemmae not seen in southeastern Alaska material.
