Scientific NameCommon NameSummary
Lophopanopeus bellusBlack-clawed crabThree spines on the sides of the carapace. This crab doesn't pinch when handled, and is found in mid- to low-energy, low intertidal areas. It is possible that the subspecies diegensis is present in our area. Look for tubercles on the chela and lobes on the front margins of the walking legs. If found, it would be appreciated if you could freeze a specimen and report your find to one of the website's editors.
