Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Probably throughout, especially in wetter areas.
Habitat: In southeastern Alaska on cliff shelves among vegetation, (especially other bryophytes), in canyons, on slopes, and rarely on exposed road-cut cliffs. Sea level to the subalpine.
Comments: Generally with sporophytes. Strormer (1969) discusses the geography of this species, especially with respect to its specific ecological characteristics.
