Summary | Rowan first noticed these in pools at the very upper edge of the beach. I suspect they are flooded at high tide but fed by freshwater. I don't know if they remain brackish (nor how much saltwater actually gets mixed in). They would work their way down into the rock, but the long tube could stretch out quite some distance. It seemed to have multiple parts, with the final end looking sort of like a filtering mechanism. It also seemed to be able to retract completely. Ii'm wondering if this is a larva of an insect? Otherwise I have no idea. |
