Summary | Reasonably abundant seaweed found below the fucus on a fairly exposed shoreline. Looking through the Seaweeds of Alaska, the closest fits seem to be the sea oaks Common Sea Oak (Phycodrys fimbriata) (not sure the margin fits), Mikami's Sea Oak (Mikamiella ruprechtiana) (though this is supposed to be subtidal) or perhaps Northern Sea Oak (Tokidadendron bullatum) (though this species is supposed to have smooth, undulating margins). Not sure what to make of it. The photos on paper were taken the following day at home. Update: Sandra Lindstrom says Northern Sea Oak (Tokidadendron bullatum) (based on photos). |
