Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Known only from a mountain above Washington Bay, Kuiu Island. Reported by Eyerdam (1952) and Persson (1950).
Habitat: The southeastern Alaska plants were near the mountain top on a flat, moist rock. In Europe the species inhabits moist cliffs, especially granite in the upper subalpine and the alpine, frequently with Andreaea species.
