A rare lichen thought to be exclusively associated with old growth forests and occurring in habitats transitional between the oceanic coast and the continental interior. Known from BC and northern Washignton (Goward & Goffinet 1993). The taxonomic status of this species is uncertain, some consider it a rare form of Lobaria oregona.
