Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Known from Lake LIndeman, British Columbia near the Alaskan Border at White Pass (Williams, 1901), Yakutat (Stair, 1947), and Juneau (Persson, 1952a).
Habitat: In Fennoscandia (Nyholm, 1954-65) on soil or rocks in shaded habitats, especially in calcareous districts. In North America (Grout, 1928-40) on old logs and moist rocks in cool ravines or woods in mountains.
Comments: Rarely with sporophytes.
