Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Probably throughout. Previously known from a few sites.[as Fontinalis patula] From Sitka (Cardot and Theriot, 1902), Yakutat (Stair, 1947; Welch, 1960), and Mendenhall (Welch, 1960).
Habitat: Usually in slowly flowing, well oxygenated water at lower elevations, rarely in forest pools and ponds. [as Fontinalis patula] On stones and wood in streams, lakes and ponds.
Comments: Occasionally with sporophytes.
