Worley's Map of Collection Records for Barbula sp.

Ian Worley
[as Barbula sp.]
Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Throughout.
Habitat: Creeping on generally exposed rock surfaces, cliffs and dry canyon walls, perhaps a calciphyte. Sea level to the upper forest zone.
Comments: The plants are usually with sporophytes. The species is infrequent but locally abundant. It is also known from the Alaskan Highway, and is presently being studied by Drs. E. Lawton and F. J. Hermann, who suggest that it is a new taxon (Lawton, personal communiation).
