  • Geiser Dillman Derr Stensvold 1998: Abundant; on bark and lignum of conifers, where it grows on lower branches, crotches and trunk bases. Also occuring on soil and rocks. Common to all coniferous forest habitats; low elevation to subalpine. -var. subsquamosa Common; on mossy logs and rocks, on trunks, snags and stumps of conifers.
