Ulota phyllantha: Common maritime species. Dark brown 'brood-bodies' at the end of leaves are usually present and distinctive for this species.

Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Widespread.
Habitat: Common on rocks, driftwood and trees adjacent to tide water, occasionally on old buildings. Often abundant.
Comments: Sometimes with sporophytes, always with gemmae. A circumboreal, bipolar disjunct, maritime species that is missing in eastern Asia.
