Sitka/Rock Ptarmigan

Sitka Summary: Probably at least Uncommon in appropriate habitat. The alpine habitat preferred by this species is not accessible by road, and other access is difficult and/or expensive, so true abundance is not certain. Best seen near town on Bear Mountain. Collections have been made on Kruzof Island and Chichagof Island.
