Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Throughout.
Habitat: Common among heathers and bryophytes on banks and rock outcrops in the subalpine and alpine, rarely to sea level in the upper Lynn Canal valley.
Comments: Sometimes with sporophytes (not seen in Alaskan material).

Leaves are wrinkled (rugose). Stems with very small hair-like paraphyllia.
