Southeastern Alaska Distribution: See Map 93. Throughout, from sea level to the subalpine.
Habitat: On bark and drier deadfall in forest regions and in the subalpine. Occasionally among other bryophytes on dry forest floors. Also recorded from stranded driftwood.
Comments: Perianths are occasionally present in the southeastern Alaskan material.
