Fabia subquadrataGrooved mussel crabThis interesting species is most often encountered in large specimens of the mussel California mussel (Mytilus zonarius) where it lives in the mantle chamber. Somewhat similar to the Pinnixa littoralis, this species is rarely (if ever) reported from Tresus capax or Tresus nuttallii. Also, F. subquadrata has a distinct groove running backwards from each eye and extending about 1/3 or the length of the carapace.
