Habitat: On rocks and soils wherever wet from sea level to the alpine. In ditches, stream banks, rocks by streams and lakes, ravine walls, cliffs, streams in peatlands. Commonly in sunny sites, but also in shade.
Comments: Occasionally found with sporophytes.
