Worley's Map of Collection Records for Lophozia gillmanii

Ian Worley
[as Lophozia gillmanii]
Southeastern Alaska Distribution: See Map 54. Perhaps it will prove to be wherever there are calcareous rocks. Previously reported only by Persson (1952a) from Coronation Island.
Habitat: In Glacier Bay on marble cliff shelves and associated forest floor. The species is an obligate calciphyte, usually on moist rocks and cool ledges, in the north on clay-shale solifluction slopes.
Comments: The geography of this infrequently collected species is imperfectly known.
