[as Lophozia bantriensis]
Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Not previously known. East slopes of marble mountain, opposite Drake Island, Glacier Bay, Worley and Boas 11123, 11189.
Habitat: In Glacier Bay on a rocky marble bluff and on the sides of a shallow depression at about 1000 ft. Elsewhere noted to be a distinct calciphyte, growing as mats on wet, springy-moory sites, or on calcareous cliffs.
Comments: Until the species becomes better known in western North America, especially Alaska, its detailed geography will remain unclear.
