Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Throughout.
Habitat: Frequent and abundant on mesic to dry, shaded rock surfaces, in canyons, on boulders, on cliffs, sometimes forming extensive covering films. From sea level to the lower subalpine.
Comments: Not seen with sporophytes in southeastern Alaska. All the material that has been reported from Alaska as H. heteropteroides has been included here.
