BFNA Treatment of Haplomitrium hookeri
Ian Worley
Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Undoubtedly throughout in subalpine and alpine regions.
Habitat: Locally abundant in alpine and subalpine heather meadows or upon exposed mountain ridges.
Comments: The species is usually fertile. Worley (1969) has recently commented more fully upon this species. An interesting problem in considering the distribution of H. hookeri is the fact that it is known only from areas of Pleistocene glaciation. Furthermore, the species freely reproduces sexually.
