Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Previously reported only from Yakutat (Stair, 1947). Local, but probably throughout; known only from lower elevations.
Habitat: Rotten forest wood, seepy roadside banks, moist holes in bogs under the shade of shrub cedars. On a great variety of habitats wherever there is a constant supply of moisture and at least parital shade.
Comments: Commonly with sporophytes.
