Spreading Wood Fern (Dryopteris expansa): Medium to large sized wintergreen fern common in moderately to higly productive forests.

Specific Epithet: expansa

Rank: species

Taxonomic Notes: USFS list has D. austriaca. This name seems to have been misapplied to the Alaskan material. D. austriaca is no longer a valid taxa, it is a synonym of D. campyloptera which occurs in eastern North America.

Abundance: Common
Observed at: Indian River Valley, Totem Park
