Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Throughout, especially in the subalpine.
Habitat: In rock crevices, in alpine tundra, occasionally in gorges. Often mixed with other bryophytes (especially D. albicans) or in the partial shade of low vegetation.
Comments: Sporophytes and gemmae do not appear to be common, and are possibly rare, in southeastern Alaska material.
