Habitat: [as Barbula vinealis] On calcareous substrates, rocks, soil, buildings, cliffs, canyon walls. [as Barbula cylindrica] On rocks and soil in damp habitats, usually where shaded, sometimes on stones in streams.
Comments: [as Barbula vinealis] The plants are frequently with sporophytes. [as Barbula cylindrica] Usually with sporophytes.
