Habitat: Generally found in rich peatlands, in peat over rocks, on rocks and cliffs in humid canyons. From sea level to the lower subalpine.
Comments: Although not with sporophytes in southeastern Alaska the plants have deciduous shoots which probably serve as vegetative propagules.
