Calypogeia neesiana
From Natural History of Southeast Alaska
Calypogeia neesiana:
Family: Calypogeiaceae
Status: Reported but Unconfirmed
Abundance: ?
Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Apparently widespread, northernmost report from Douglas.
Habitat: On dead Sphagnum, peats, decaying wood, loamy-sandy sometimes dry banks, usually in acid sites.
Comments: Persson (1952a) suggests that C. neesiana does not exist in western North America and that the previous reports are likely C. integristipula (=C. meylanii). Since there have been no reports of the species in recent times, especially since new species descriptions and definitions have been made, it is possible that the species does not exist in western North America.
