Brown Booby (Sula leucogaster): At least 7 reports, the first came in on a fishing boat to Sitka October 30, 2014. Additional report from Wrangell Narrows (Summer 2015?), on from Salisbury Sound north of Sitka (August 2016), two reports from near Sitka (same bird?) in late fall 2018, one seen 20 October 2022 at the mouth of Sitka Sound, and another in August 2023 from Sitka Sound.

Local Notes

  • Sitka/Brown Booby: Casual in Sitka Sound and offshore. Two have come into town on fishing boats, 30 October 2014, and 2 November 2018. One seen and photographed on a fishing boat at Salisbury Sound 6 August 2016 [1]. One seen and photographed at the mouth of Sitka Sound 20 October 2022. Most recent report from August 2023 at the mouth of Sitka sound [2] (edit)
