Southeastern Alaska Distribution: Throughout, especially in the subalpine and alpine.
Habitat: In southeastern Alaska common among tundra bryophytes on alpine ridges and summits, to sea level in dry, well drained sites. Elsewhere noted also from shaded forest sites and even floating in pools.
Comments: The species is common and often robust in alpine situations, frequently forming extensive, semi-pure turfs.
