Southeastern Alaska Distribution: The species and the variety are only known from the type of the variety: Muir Glacier, Glacier Bay (Cardot and Theriot, 1902).
Habitat: On soil, rocks, wood and other low habitats in forests and shrublands. Occasionally on shaded cliffs in moist or wet habitats in calcareous districts.
Comments: The status of the variety needs review, in that it has not been re-collected since it was described.
